2016 — Selected for the IDEO CoLAB Makeathon fellowship

  • Developed a mobile application prototype to support sleep hygiene.
  • Selected for a summer fellowship at IDEO but regretfully had to decline as it conflicted with the birth of our son.
  • Currently in talks to serve in a mentorship role for IDEO’s summer fellowship program.

2013 — Winner of the University of California Learning Mode College Ready Hackathon

  • Presented the winning design for a mobile app to support students in their path to college.
  • The app was selected for production, and I was asked to co-teach a UC Berkeley course on collaborative app design for 15 interdisciplinary students.

2012 — Lectured on Online Learning Design at University of Kochi, Japan

  • Invited to Japan to help them develop their online learning strategy for the Disaster Nursing Global Leadership online PhD. program.
  • Presented to the Japanese Minister of Education and representatives from 12 universities on best practices in online distance learning.
